We Are in Love with These Portraits of Kids Posing with Reasons Their Moms Are Shamed

The photos prove that they are still doing a great job. More

Online mom groups or forums can be great places to find advice, share your own insight or get support. But the unfortunate reality is that many of these groups are also rampant with shaming against everything under the sun. As a working mother of two, professional photographer Abbie Fox knows this all too well.

“In this technology world where we spend tons of time on Facebook and in mommy groups we find one major thing every day … mommy shaming,” the Las Vegas mom wrote in a Facebook post. “People roll their eyes and say it doesn’t happen anymore, but it is alive and well and it can be brutal. When I was a first time mom I would cry for things people said to me and the main culprits were other moms.”

Abbie decided to take a stand against shaming with a new photo series she titled “Anti Mommy Shamers Unite” that she shared on Facebook last week. The photos feature children holding signs that say things that their moms have been shamed over. She tried to cover as many “hot button” topics that her volunteer subjects would be open to sharing.

The end result is a powerful photo series that shows that—despite all of the unnecessary shaming—the moms are still doing a great job and their kids are still happy.

“We are all doing our best to keep these little humans alive all while keeping our sanity,” Abbie wrote. “We all have our differences in parenting and need to realize that everyone is raised differently and have different values and things that are important to us. We need to spread a little more love around.”

The full series can be viewed on Abbie’s business Facebook page. You can also view more of her work on her website.
