Lauren Conrad’s Secret for Getting Dressed Fast Each Morning is SUCH a Timesaver
On busy mornings, the last thing any working mom needs is a fashion conundrum that takes up too much of her already-limited time. That’s why we think this new celeb working mom’s latest style advice is so important to remember.
In an interview with WorkingMother.com, fashion designer Lauren Conrad, mom to Liam James, 5 months, with husband William Tell, shared her tip for quickly getting dressed—and it’s super practical. “If you find a couple silhouettes that fit you really nicely, it takes the stress out of getting ready in the morning,” she says. In other words, find that one flattering look and replicate it with different colors, patterns and fabrics. We like the idea of keeping a complete outfit on a single hanger. That way, you never have to worry about whether the pieces work together in your groggy-eyed state. But of course you can mix things up to keep it interesting (you know, for the exciting occasion you feel well-rested enough to create a new look).
As for her own uniform, Lauren, who cofounded the fashion line Paper Crown and also has a fashion line at Kohl’s, says, “Machine washable is preferable. These days I”ve been wearing a lot of Athleisure just because it”s easier when you”re running around,” but she recognizes that you can’t swing that for the office.
Although she’s been working from home most days since giving birth—”it’s nice that I have that flexibility,” she admits—when she’s in the office, she says she usually wears “some sort of woven blouse, cropped skinny jeans and embellished flats.” Simple and chic.
And when she partnered with Kellogg’s during the recent opening of the cereal brand’s NYC Cafe, where people can order or DIY cool cereal creations, she wore a wrap dress. We imagine she has a whole closet full of this ultra-flattering, office-friendly style.
